He has also furthered his training by completing many courses in screen acting, singing and various aspects of stage, screen and real combat, achieving distinctions in all certifications. Stuart has also had the pleasure of creating many new roles including Brian in Muscles, Beowulf in Legend of Beowulf, Jude in the adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Novel Jude the Obscure, Scaramouche in Scaramouche and many more.
Since graduating he’s enjoyed roles in feature films (Golden Brown, Dead of the Nite, Tin) and on the west end stage (Les Miserable, Imagine This, Jesus Christ Superstar) working hard enough to earn a great reputation and some rave reviews:
“Stuart Boother’s performance left me stunned… his acting second to none… every moment was believable”
James Carter, RUG Reviews
As well as performing, from 2004 to 2008 Stuart was the co-founder of the Travesty Theatre Company, (with Nicola Jane Buttegeige) who specialized in new writing, bringing classic literature to the stage and supporting the British movie industry. He then formed his own screen production company Dream Chute, who produced the pilot episode of a television comedy drama called Living the Dream, written and performed by his twin sister Catherine Boother.
Following this, he began to further his training in acting, joining the Bernard Hiller Studio, where he studied method acting in both the UK and LA, and landed himself various parts on both the small and big screens. Upon returning home, Stuart also began to further his training in Singing, studying opera with Carl Penlington-Williams, and performing with various companies around the UK including New Devon opera and English Touring Opera.
2010 saw Stuart make a more serious move into martial arts, travelling to the Shangdong Province of China to live with the Shaolin Monks of the Kunyu Mountains, where he studied a variety of fighting styles and had his first introduction to the Asian culture. He has since been back for more, achieving a black belt in Taekwondo and continues to study Shaolin under the guidance of Shifu Heng Wei, in London, with Tang Long Shaolin.
Putting these combatant skills into practice saw Stuart working as a stuntman on films such as Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides, and Clash of the Titans 2: Wrath of the Titans, which sparked a passion for the stunt world, and led him on to working with world renowned stuntman Claudio Pacifico and American stunt company Action Horizons. Since meeting Claudio, Stuart had dreamed of joining Stunt Concept Italy (Claudio’s own stunt school in Rome) to further his training in the many arts of Stunts. This dream was finally released in the summer of 2016.
Action Horizons were introduced to Stuart after his “big break” in Asia, where he landed the title role in Resorts World Sentosa’s multi-million dollar original production of The Lightseeker, A huge Cirque Du Soleil style show which combined his singing with his mastery of stunt combat and martial arts. Performed at the Festive Theatre Sentosa, in Singapore, this role really helped build Stuart’s international career and reputation. Directed by Michael La Fleur with original music from Dick Lee, and an entire stunt team from Action Horizons, this really was an amazing show and an experience he will never forget, especially as it came after a whole summer of travelling mainland China performing Opera and Kung Fu for the Miss Earth China beauty Pageants’ competitions and events… someone had to do it.
However, Stuart’s Passion for classical singing cannot be diminished, a passion which grows and grows the more he studies and performs. Since returning to the UK late 2014, he began traveling the world with international vocal harmony group Viva Voce, and performing as one of 4 soloists with Disney’s new “Disney In Concert”, gaining him the privilege of singing with some of the greatest orchestra’s in Europe, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He intends to continue studying and performing to the highest of his ability and cannot wait for the opportunity to combine the skills again…. When will someone write Chuck Norris the Opera?
Having worked in all mediums and with a variety of material, ranging from Shakespeare on stage, to Lord of the Rings on screen, to Jesus Christ Superstar!
Stuart is as ever, looking forward to whatever new and exciting comes around the corner.
